Welcome to the Oobleck08 Wiki
Oobleck is a conglomerate of inconstant viscosity currently collaborating on a village for Burning Man 08. Building on last-year's success we are hoping to thrill and titillate visitors on the playa while establishing a solid collective home-base for each of our variously fluid schemes. This is our wiki--a space where we hash out to-do lists, delegate responsibility, track progress and gently usher the flow forward.

Help Out!
This is our running to-do list. Add projects and tasks you want to throw out there to the list. To take on a task just write your name next to it. Once it's done delete it and move on.
- The kitchen is:
- looking for volunteers. Sign up here!
- asking for your suggestions for communal food.
- wondering whether you have any equipment we can borrow
- discussing a number of issues concerning our kitchen set-up
- There are several critical roles that have not been filled, or at least the wiki doesn't yet know who's doing it. Even if you have not camped with Oobleck taking care any of these would be a great way to get involved. We need people lined up to take responsibility for:

- Add your name to the participant list if you are planning on camping with Oobleck. If you know people who are not on the list, but who have tickets and are planning on camping with us, add them too.
- If you are holding extra tickets add your name to our unclaimed ticket list. If you're looking for a cheap ticket it's time to bust out the knee pads.
Art Projects
Contact Microphone Installation
- Point-Person: Alex, Overington
- Partners in Crime: Max, Audrey, Kevin
- A sound-installation comprised of traditional, nontraditional, and wind-driven musical instruments whose mechanical vibrations will be amplified with contact microphones.
Fences + Neighbors
- Point-Person: Chitty
- Partners in Crime: Benanav, Erin, Danny
- Installation of a border fence on the playa. The structure will progress through several stages, as we offer the citizens of black rock city a set of tools (spray paint, stencils, sledge hammers, axes) for interacting with the wall.
- In the participatory spirit of Burning Man, Fences + Neighbors will be authored by those who interact with it.

Noise Camp

Tasty Noodles
Drink, party, dance!
We make some Tasty Noodles with our sound system generated by flamingo power (or a Honda 6500 watt generator, but that distinction isn't important). In the works right now is a bar, more shade structures, sound system, generator, and, of course, tasty noodles.
Camp Dixie
Secede from Black Rock City, Y'all! Come sit up 'ere on our front porch and have a mint julep.(Chris has proposed a toned down simple version of Camp Dixie-Chitty)
- Rather than a theme camp...Why not just...
- secede for a day?

- Serve some mint julep tea, and have rocking chairs under shade structures.

- Please email Chris your in-camp needs, or better yet post them to the wiki so he can continue to adapt the urban plan so that it is inviting and open to all projects.

Power
Tasty Noodles will bring a 6500W generator and 30 gallons of fuel.
Shower
I and those traveling with me are still planning on doing that unless we hear otherwise. The shower follows a BYOB (Bring your own shower bag) policy. You should also bring some extra water to use it. 1.5 gallons is a comfortable shower, 2 is luxurious, and and you can use less and still feel clean after. The shower will also be constructed to have its own grey water evaporation pond. -Zach Segal
Mobile Neon Sign
A mobile neon sign has been constructed. It uses L-wire and is battery operated. It will serve primarily as a good means of providing a meeting point at night when a group of us go to other camps. A secondary function is to use it as a sign in front of our camp bar (half of it spells "blek," there was not enough room for the full name) -Zach Segal

Chores
Are you going to need help with your project during the week? Request it here and Mary, Our Cruel Task-Master will round it up for you. During the week expect her to put you to work too.
Budget and Dues
Proposal: Camp dues will be $100.
Camp dues will cover: Food, Water, Propane; Communal Structures; Truck Rental; Art.
If camp dues are a serious financial hardship, please let one of the camp organizers know -- we'll make arrangements.
Clean-Up Plan
Brian Kamps is our Leave-No-Trace coordinator. Qualifications include, but are not limited to, mild obsessive compulsive disorder.

Appalled by last years' shanty-town? Nominate yourself as our Architectural Consultant
Our shanty-town was awesome, but this year we will have one white 10' x 20' awesome fancy new canopy tent structure dealio for lounging, chatting, sleeping, hanging out, etc. and one white 10' x 10' white canopy tent for our kitchen! Both have windows and removable walls!
